Wing backs are like Sling backs....

Actually, I just liked the rhyme... but I do think wing backs are like a great pair of heels. I am by NO means a fashion anything, guru, follower, pick your word. But - much like heels, there are so many different looks to a wing back chair and height adds drama.

Hunter's Chili - Recipe 3

So, when your husband brings home 50 pounds of deer meat you have to be creative! This is a recipe for Venison Chili - not that this is creative, but it is easy and good!
(via)
  • 1 pound of ground venison
  • 1 can (14oz) of diced tomatoes
  • 2 can (8oz) of kidney beans
  • 1 can (8oz) of tomato sauce
  • 2 tbs chili powder
  • 1 tbs cayenne pepper
  • 18oz of V8 juice
After browning the meat, I put everything in a crock-pot and cook on high for 3 hours and on low for an additional 2 hours. I will warn you though - I am a little spice happy when it comes to chili.  I don't really measure... I just sprinkle and dump. Also, you can throw in a little deer sausage to the meat when you are cooking it for a twist on flavor. Play around with spices... and TaDa... a meal that you and your hunter can enjoy!

Today I'm thinking about...

Spring!
The forecast for tomorrow is "blustery"... that word just makes me shiver!
I'm ready for warmth, flowers, and sunshine.

How cute would this be for a baby or bridal shower. It reminds me of the arrangements Eddie Ross did for the Larson Juhl workshop that I attended in Atlanta last month - a post on that to follow.

The picture reminds me of this bedroom the white and yellows - with a hint of burnt orange. How could you wake up in this bed and be in a bad mood. If it ever rained outside of this little lady's bedroom... I don't think she would even notice.

This of course is what she would wear to work - or to the country club to grab a cocktail!

Mom's Lasagna - Recipe 2

This is a recipe for Mom's Lasagna, a Hensley family staple. I think she fixed this EVERY TIME I came home from college!

(via)

  • Lasagna Noodles (1 box)
  • 1 1/2 lbs. - 2 lbs. ground beef
  • Medium onion
  • 1 large can diced tomatoes
  • 1 large can tomato paste/ water
  • 1 large container cottage cheese
  • 3 eggs
  • Mozzarella cheese (3 or 4 packages of sliced and 1 package of shredded)
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Salt / garlic salt / pepper
  • Italian seasoning
Boil the noodles according to directions on the box. Brown the onion.Brown the ground beef and drain excess fat. Add diced tomatoes, tomatoes paste and water. Season to taste (salt / garlic salt/ pepper/ Italian seasoning). Stir often and cook 25 minutes on med/ low heat. Mix cottage cheese and eggs. Layer in 9x13 dish: noodles, sauce, cottage cheese mixture, cheese.
On first layer just put sauce then noodles. On the last layer top off with shredded Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Bake at 350 for 1 hour! Bon Appetite!

Now that I have reached a certain age, I have mixed emotions about birthdays...
With all the lovely surprises and beloved well wishes from family and friends comes the wrinkles of aging - a sign of the times. I just hope my wrinkles are smile lines and not stress marks!
This picture makes me smile...

And this one two... I think this will be inspiration for my recipe this week. That is, if the roads will clear so I can get to the grocery store to grab a few ingredients.

Oh, my birthday list... I thought you'd never ask!

1. Blackberry Farm's New Cookbook 2. Custom framing for some prints I picked up at Scott's (from Ari) 3. Kate Spade bracelets 4. Recycled Glass Canisters for my baking supplies 5. Vietri pieces to add to my collection

Winter-itus

Symptoms: lack of energy, pale skin, general uncomfortableness and restlessness.

Yep, I am suffering from a case of winter-itus, i.e. this post at 12:33 am on a work night. These images remind me of a comforting winter (as opposed to my rainy restless one)... but, winter none-the-less.

That bed looks so appealing in the picture, but in real life - my mind won't sleep. Maybe I can research ways to lay out my blog in a better way. If only I had the patience to again RE -research all the sites I found two days ago... before I had to issue the "not allowed to close open computer windows" rule to my husband. His response was, "well, if I'm on 'cabelas.com', when I get back on the computer... I just go to 'cabelas.com'!"... Typical! ; )

What I really want to do... is snuggle up in a big pink blanket, like this pretty lady in the Kate Spade add. Tomorrow is going to be a log day...

I bet this is where she sleeps...

My Office Inspiration

Part of my New Years Resolution is to create an office space where I can study and organize all the paper work that comes with being a "big girl" married woman.

(via & via)

The walls are going to be painted duck egg blue, a custom color I created (it sounds a lot fancier than it is). The paint is a mix between Benjamin Moore's Palladian Blue (HC- ) and Buxton Blue (HC -). The paint is actually left over from painting my front door, and repeating the color in the house will create a fun connection.

Other details I would like to include are white furniture, nail head trim, metallic, and pops of yellow. S0, it looks like I have plenty more projects ahead of me! Pictures of my deck chair estate sale find to follow. - Here's a hint... nail head trim! (SQUEAL!!!)

A New Seat - Week 2 Project (well, a 1/2 project)

Before...

And After...

These are for my office - also known as the storage room right now. I picked these pups up at Scott's Antiques in Atlanta. Here is some office inspiration...

Shelving - Week 1 Project

Organization!
Yes, that is the goal...

After a trip to Ikea I have 2 new shelves, one for organizing my pantry/laundry
room, and one for my closet. The shelves look like this:

The tall white one is for my pantry...if only my pantry could look like this:
